Our Heritage

Barnes Honey is amongst the oldest honey brands in Australia. Our origins began in regional Victoria in 1876 when brothers W, James and Fred Barnes rented a small shop in St Kilda, Melbourne for five shillings a week and became Australian pioneers of the honey packing business.

According to the Richmond Guardian in 1915, they started as a means of helping their cousins in the beekeeping trade pack their excess honey. A lot of time has passed since then, but we remain committed to sourcing the finest, active products nature has to offer, with honey at the core of our business. With a deep understanding of nutrition, our mission is to use the power of nature to maintain, support and restore the health of everyday Australian families.

Our Sustainability Commitment

At Barnes Naturals, we strive to uphold the holistic values that set the foundations for our company back in 1876.

We are committed to offering products that are good for you and are gentle on the environment. This is why we proudly pack our products in line with The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO). The APCO is a co-regulatory, not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to reducing the harmful impact of packaging on our beautiful Australian environment. The packaging we use is food safe, BPA free PET. We also have solar power at our Victorian packing site, which contributes renewable energy a portion of our energy use.

When you are finished enjoying our Naturally Active products, refer to the back of pack for recycling instructions.
