All of our natural Apple Cider Vinegars contain 'The Mother’, a living mixture of beneficial bacteria, minerals and enzymes. The Mother develops as a part of the normal natural fermentation process of the Apple Cider changing to Apple Cider Vinegar. The Mother settles at the bottom of the bottle. The presence of The Mother is a sign that you are buying a natural, unfiltered product. With a simple shake of the bottle to disperse The Mother, your ACV is ready for consumption.

No. We do not pasteurise our Apple Cider Vinegar, as it would completely destroy the beneficial enzymes present from ‘The Mother’ – which is the cobweb like strands of sediment you may have noticed in our product. Presence of The Mother indicated the raw, unfiltered and uncompromised quality of our product.

What is the percentage (%) of acidity in Barnes Naturals Apple Cider Vinegar?

We strictly adhere to quality standards set in place by Australian Food Standards. Our Apple Cider Vinegar acidity may vary from batch to batch, however we are required as per Australian Food Standards to ensure our product meets a minimal acidity requirement of 4.0%.

Is there alcohol present in your Apple Cider Vinegar?

No, there is no presence of alcohol in our Apple Cider vinegar. ACV is made by crushing apples and squeezing out the liquid. Bacteria and yeast are added to the liquid to start the alcoholic fermentation process, and the sugars are turned into alcohol. No, there is no presence of alcohol in our Apple Cider vinegar. ACV is made by crushing apples and squeezing out the liquid. Bacteria and yeast are added to the liquid to start the alcoholic fermentation process, and the sugars are turned into alcohol. In a second fermentation process, the alcohol is converted into vinegar by acetic acid-forming bacteria (acetobacter). There is no remaining alcohol in the Apple cider vinegar. Acetic acid and malic acid give vinegar its sour taste.

Does Apple Cider Vinegar expire?

Due to its acidic state Apple Cider Vinegar is considered a non-perishable item when stored correctly, therefore we are not required to print a ‘use by/expiry’ or ‘best before’ date. However, it is recommended to consume Apple Cider Vinegar within two (2) years, for best results.
