Soft oats, stirred with sweet pear, toasted pecans, Manuka Active Honey and a hint of coffee. Slow, nourishing energy to start your day.
1 cup (100g) rolled oats
4 (45g) fresh dates, pitted and finely chopped
1½ cups milk
1 tablespoon black coffee
1 pear (240g), cored and finely chopped, reserving some for serving
¼ cup (20g) toasted and chopped pecan nuts
1 tablespoon (25g) Barnes Naturals Manuka Active Honey MGO 100+
Make the porridge. Place the oats, dates, milk and coffee in a small saucepan and cook over a moderate heat, stirring occasionally until the oats are softened but the mixture is still a little loose.
Combine. Remove from the heat and stir through the pear and pecan nuts. This will cool the mixture slightly. (Cooling to 40oC will ensure that the heat-sensitive bioactive compounds of Manuka Active Honey will be preserved when added).
Serve. Stir through the Manuka Active Honey and spoon into two serving bowls. Top with reserved pear and enjoy
